How VersFlow counts
It counts the syllables you hear, the way the dictionary pronounces them: “heaven” has two, “beautiful” three, “fire” two – even if you sometimes sing it as one. It uses pronunciation dictionaries with about 100,000 English and 150,000 German words; words they don’t know are estimated by rules. Lines in square brackets like [Chorus] aren’t counted.
Why count syllables?
Lines with a similar number of syllables fit the same melody. If one line of the chorus is much longer than the others, you have to squeeze it when you sing – or find a shorter way to say it.
Let VersFlow count while you write.
In VersFlow the syllable count sits next to every line as you type. Set a target range and the lines that run long or short stand out – with rhymes right at the cursor.
